The long and winding road
The building of the Simplon road was ordered by Napoleon Bonaparte on the 7th September 1800. The road starts at the Arch of Peace (Arco della Pace) in the City of Milan and ends at the Arc de Triomphe in Paris. The road passes along the Piedmont side of Lake Maggiore - right through Arona - over the Simplon Pass into Switzerland and France.

Bonjour mais elle est très belle cette photo oui j'aime beaucoup bonne journée
ReplyDeleteIt is a beauiful photograph. It makes for an interesting story about how the road was built. A lot of workers who must have been paid well to do the most important work to build the road.
ReplyDeleteThey say that all roads lead to Rome but not this one, apparently ! ;-)
ReplyDeleteAn impressive straight line for a humorous title!
Thank you, all of you!!
ReplyDeleteYes, there are always exceptions, Nathalie!
